Rajbiraj, April 4:

A 40-year-old woman of Mallekpur village development committee-1 in Saptari district has recently adopted permanent family planning measures after giving birth to her 15th child. Umda Devi Mandal, wife of Sitaram, gave birth to 15 children in 25 years, out of which 10 are alive.

“My eldest son, Raj Kumar, died at five and four daughters died immediately after births. I was compelled to give birth to more children waiting for a son,” said Umda.

“When I watched a play about permanent family planning measures in my village, I went to the Family Planning Office secretly and got myself operated.”
