Kathmandu, March 17 The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation has announced that it will expand online services to all the Land Revenue Offices across the country within a year. Speaking at a programme to mark the occasion of the Land Revenue Office in Kalanki going fully online today, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Padma Kumari Aryal, said that the government is committed to fulfilling the people’s desire for speedy, effective and efficient service delivery not only at the Land Revenue Offices but in all government offices. On the occasion, Minister Aryal also mentioned that the ministry has plans to provide online services at all Land Revenue Offices across the country within a year. She further said that the government has plans to introduce online services in Land Revenue Offices and also offices of the Survey Department in Kathmandu Valley within the current fiscal year. Likewise, the government will expand the online service to survey and land revenue offices across the country within the next fiscal. “We will also try to facilitate the survey and land revenue offices with banking services and introduce electronic payment system for all types of payments,” she said. She mentioned that the Kalanki Land Revenue Office had been developed as a model office. The minister also claimed that the process to transfer ownership of land in the Kalanki Land Revenue Office can be completed within 30 minutes. In its bid to systematise the process of land transactions, the ministry has expanded its online service to 10 more Land Revenue Offices. It had started online services at 37 Land Revenue Offices some five months ago but not in a full-fledged manner. The system will be expanded to all 131 Land Revenue Offices across the country to end malpractices that have been reported by service seekers. With the beginning of online service, various details of the landowners will be registered in the system. For instance, finger prints of both buyers and sellers, and their photos will be updated in the computer system. Such a system is expected to also save the landowners from possible cases of land fraud.
