Kathmandu, April 14:

Locals of Naya Basti at Balkot Village Development Committee of Bhaktapur today collected Rs 9,069. The money will be spent on medical treatment of those injured in the ongoing movement for democracy.

A member of the Bramanagar VDC, Nawananda Neupane, said people who had gathered to greet each other on the occasion of New Year 2063, collected the amount. “The amount will be handed over to the concerned persons,” Neupane said.

With positive thoughts for the new year, locals hoped democracy would be restored in the country soon. They called on every member of the society to support the movement.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the executive committee of Bramanagar VDC decided to revamp the two-year-old body. Kedar Prasad Sanjel has been nominated chairman of the committee and Uddav Chaulagain has been nominated general secretary.
