Janakpurdham, April 3 Province two government has decided to build houses for the storm victims of Bara and Parsa districts within four months. The victims will get new houses before monsoon. Gyanendra Yadav minister for internal affair and law announced the decision at the parliament meeting of the province on Wednesday. “The government is serious about the problems of the victims and will erect houses for them within four months,” said minister Yadav. He also informed that preparations are underway to construct the houses with four rooms along with toilets within four months before the onset of the rainy season. According to Yadav, eight settlements in Bara and Parsa are badly hit by the storm. He added that works on the installation of hand pumps in affected settlements have already begun. Since the victims are living under the fear of snake and mosquito with the onset of the summer season mosquito nets and tents among other materials are dispatched to the affected areas, as informed by minister Yadav. Relief materials availed by donor agencies would be distributed through a single door system to avoid duplicity. Three state ministers of the provincial government would provide help to the victims round the clock focal persons will soon be deployed to listen to the grievance of the victims, according to minister Yadav. Yadav informed that the storm had knocked down around 2,000 power poles in Bara and Parsa districts. “Since the affected area is sans electricity efforts are on to restore power supply through solar panels,” he informed. A total of 27 persons had lost their lives in Bara while the storm had claimed one life in Parsa. Over 1000 persons were injured while 400 persons are now leading a normal life upon treatment. The freak storm completely damaged 918 houses while partially damaging 922 in Bara. Likewise, 122 houses were destroyed completely in Parsa and 387 houses were partially damaged in Parsa. The storm had also damaged some schools in the districts. Minister Yadav said that the damaged schools would be repaired soon and educational materials would also be provided to the students of the victims free of cost. Saroj Yadav, speaker of the parliament meeting informed that its members would donate seven days’ salary to the storm victims. He also informed that lawmakers Abdul Kalam and Ashok Yadav and state minister for Industry, Tourism and Forest Surendra Mandal would provide a moth salary to the victims.
