Season of Papas

MUMBAI: Jimmy Shergill is on a high! The actor has just become a proud father to a boy whom the couple has named Vir. So, if Jimmy is not shooting, you will find him busy mollycoddling his bundle of joy. Shergill is currently shooting for Charas. Uday Chopra and Irfan Khan are his co-stars in the film. “Uday and I may not lure the audience to the theatres individually, but we definitely make a good team because our earlier film Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hain got a warm response at the box-office. Irfan Khan has been a great co-star,” he said.

Arshad Warsi is also going to be a father and he just cannot control his excitement. “We will be proud parents soon. The doctor have said that Maria would deliver anytime in June. Though I have a tight schedule I’m going to make it a point to be around and keep myself free around that time,” Arshad said. Maria Goretti is reading pleasant books. “After all, the emotions I experience, my child experiences too,” she said. Maria is going to make a debut in Hindi films with Raghu Romeo.

West can wait for Aamir

MUMBAI: Aishwarya Rai isn’t the only one being considered for Hollywood films. Aamir Khan too it seems has received some lucrative offers. The actor, it is reported, is seriously considering them. Buzz has it that Aamir will give his nod to a film that will show India in extremely good light. Any story that will emphasise on racial discrimination is a complete no-no. Currently Aamir is busy shooting for Ketan Mehta’s The Rising. It is only after he completes this film that he will make his decision regarding films for the West.

Love, life and Masti

MUMBAI: Vivek Oberoi had a ball shooting with producer Ashok Thakeria and director Indra Kumar for Masti. “I had so much fun with Ajay Devgan, Aftab Shivdasani and Ritesh Deshmukh that I never wanted the shooting to end. We’d do a scene and then we’d double up laughing,” says Vivek. Thakeria is already planning his next project with Vivek! The Thakeria-Indra Kumar team is no stranger to comedy. Their Ajay-Aamir starrer Ishq was a big hit. “But Masti is something else. After the failure of Rishta in 2002, both Indu and I felt we needed a change of style, pace and crew. We’ve changed our entire team and working style for Masti. The actors went through an acting workshop before getting into their roles,” says Thakeria.

Akshay, Priyanka? No thanks

MUMBAI: Rumours have linked Akshay Kumar with Priyanka Chopra. But the stars don’t find them funny at all. The two were shooting together in Mauritius for David Dhawan’s Mujhse Shaadi Karoge when stories about them gathered momentum in Mumbai. Akshay’s wife Twinkle and son Aarav were also in Mauritius. All of them had a good laugh over the story. But Priyanka isn’t amused by such link-ups. “Why Akshay? For god’s sake, he’s a married man with a lovely wife and child. I’d be the last woman to break anyone’s happy home. Please, no married men for me. In fact right now, no men for me.” Akshay was livid. “Almost every month they link me with a new heroine. What do they think I am some kind of an insatiable stud? I’ve got a wonderful wife and son and I try to take them on every outdoor shooting.” Priyanka plays the temptress who threatened Akshay’s marriage to Kareena Kapoor in Abbas-Mustan’s Aitraaz. “We make a great couple on screen. And that’s where it will remain,” says Akshay.
