Kavre District Health Office halts transfer of health workers

Kavre, September 15 Kavre District Health Office has decided not to release health workers, who have received transfer letters under the Employee Adjustment Process, until the dengue outbreak comes under control. According to the health office, staffers, who have not received transfer letter, will get letters only after dengue is brought under control. District Health Chief Dr Narendra Kumar Jha said the decision was taken as per the direction of the minister of Health and Population. He said the ministry had sent the letters to the health department of the local levels stating that the no health worker should be transferred even if they had already received the transfer letter until further notice. The ministry had issued the notice on September 11 to central, provincial and district-based health offices to halt the transfer process. The ministry also directed health offices not to approve leave applications except for some emergency cases such as delivery leave, study and mourning leave. Dengue cases have been reported in the district since September 1. According to DHO, six dengue patients have tested positive for dengue and were being treated. Of them, four dengue patients were receiving treatment in Teku Hospital while two in Dhulikhel Hospital.
