Eighty-two test positive for dengue in Tanahun

Damauli, September 25 Eighty-two persons have been diagnosed with dengue till date in Tanahun this year. According to Tanahun District Health Office, 36 dengue patients are from Tanahun itself while 46 of them are from Pokhara, Kathmandu, Chitwan and other districts. Public Health officer and programme focal person Aishwarya Bhatatrai said that dengue was seen at Byas Municipality, Aanbukhaireni, Bhimad and Myagde, among other local levels. District health office acting Chief Shankarbabu Adhikari said that his office had started an awareness programme after dengue cases shot up in the district. “We have launched a dengue awareness drive with the chairpersons of toles, local level representatives and the public,” he stated. The district health office has launched a campaign to destroy mosquito larvae and clean up the surrounding. Locals have been made aware about the need to fix nets on to doors and windows, and to don full-sleeve attire. A dengue awareness programme has been launched in all secondary schools in Myagde Rural Municipality. Myagde Rural Municipality Health department Chief Tilak Ghimire said the awareness programme was launched at schools with students’ participation to save locals from the disease. Myagde Rural Municipality Chairperson Maya Rana said the awareness programme had started from the school to contain dengue.
