Dhading, May 13:

A Maoist leader today said the party would not accept reinstatement of elected local bodies. Addressing a mass meet jointly organised by the Maoist-affiliated Jana Bargiya Sangathan and different Morchas, in Dhadingbesi, central chairman of All Nepal Trade Union Federation (Revolutionary), Shalik Ram Jamarkattel, warned that the 12-point agreement between the seven-party alliance and the Maoists could be terminated if the elected local bodies are reinstated.

Some Maoist leaders said the party would continue to protest peacefully with the help of the Nepali people for the establishment of a democratic Nepal if parties cheated the people. They said the 12-point agreement was according to the people’s wishes.

The speakers stressed elections to a constituent assembly by forming an interim government after dissolving the present House of Representatives.

The Jana Mukti Sena will not be broken until the demands are met, they said.

Maoist leader Uttam Kandel said: “Maoist will not stop their extortion drive until the seven divisions of the Jana Mukti Sena of the Maoists are transformed into a National Army.”

Addressing the meet, Maoists’ former central member Pushpa Bikram Malla said: “Jana Mukti Sena could not be the obstacle for the elections to a constituent assembly. Maoists will not take part in the constituent assembly organised by the Royal Nepalese Army and the palace.”

He also said the Constitution of 2047 BS should be dismissed for the talks to take place.

Over 10,000 people attended the programme, where Dhading-based Maoist leaders made a public appearance for the first time.
