NRT, Friends in semis

KATHMANDU: NRT and Friends Club advanced to the semi-finals of the Nepal Bank Junior League football on Sunday. Friends defeated MPC 3-2 while NRT lost 0-2 to Machhindra in Group ‘B’ matches. Nirajan Malla struck twice and Bikram Adhikari added one for Friends while Birendra Thapa and Manoj Sanuwar scored for MPC. Sushil KC and Jeevan Bhattarai scored for Machhindra. In another match, RCT downed Gyanendra APF 4-1. Krishna Khatri scored twice and Manish Khadgi and Makar Dwoj Gurung added apiece for RCT. JYC and MMC have already reached the semi-finals. — HNS

TU outplay Lalitpur

KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan University (TU) beat Lalitpur by 19 runs in the Region No 3 Cricket Selection Tournament on Sunday. Electing to bat first, TU was bowled out for 141 runs in 34.1 overs. Binod Khadka top- scored with 42 for TU. In reply, Lalitpur was packed for 122 runs in 29.1 overs. Sudip Sharma claimed four wickets for the winners. — HNS
