Jomsom-Korala road to be closed for further expansion

MUSTANG: Jomsom-Korola road of Mustang under the Kaligandaki Corridor Road Project will be closed to expand the road section from Samar to Jho river, starting November 21, for three days. After a meeting under the supervision of chairmanship of Chief District Officer Bed Prasad Aryal, roads will be widened for better traffic management and explosives will be used for further expansion. The notice has been sent out in advance in order to facilitate the travel of the tourists coming to Upper Mustang and other local residents, Project Chief Mukunda Adhikari said. The 110-kilometer Jomsom-Korola road is being constructed in seven different sections. Chairperson of Loghekar Damodar Kunda rural municipality Raju Bista lamented over how contractors are dilly-dallying on the matter resulting in slow progress, The extension of the contract period is coming to an end in eight months and still, three more sections are to be completed.
