Kathmandu, July 3 :
Concern for Children and Environment-Nepal (CONCERN) today organised a one-day national consultation workshop on Flexible Education to explore ways to educate working children.
Participants emphasised on the need to provide flexible time schedule for working children to continue their studies. “Flexible schedule will make it possible for them to pursue their education along with their job,” said Bijay Sainju, the executive director of CONCERN. As many as 271 working children are currently pursuing their studies in the capital.
Laba Prasad Tripathi, the joint secretary at the Ministry of Education and Sports, said the local authorities could play a vital role in identifying working children in their respective areas and managing flexible hours for their studies.
