Pokhara, July 9 :
Workers of Nepal Telecom (NT) here went on a strike from today demanding representation of workers in the NT board.
The workers have been protesting the government’s decision to sack Sunil Kumar Pokhrel, the sole representative of their union in the NT board on July 2.
The government had dismissed Pokhrel citing saying his tenure as the representative had ended.
Workers at Nepal Telecom branch offices all over the country today wore black bands around their arms in the office as a mark of protest.
According to set rules, one representative of the union has to be in the NT coordination committee board.
