Pokhara, August 26 :
Secretary of the Joint British Gorkha Ex-army Association Nepal (JBGEAN), Gyanraj Rai, today called on the British Embassy in Nepal to issue British resident visas to all former British Gorkha servicemen.
Speaking at an interaction here, he said the provision of providing resident visas only to those servicemen, who retired on July 1, 1997 and thereafter, was discriminatory.
The JBGEAN, which had recently submitted a 10-point demand to the Office of the British Prime Minister, has warned that it would launch an agitation if its demands were not met.
The demands include distribution of provident fund to former servicemen, compensation for the widows of those servicemen who died on duty, issuance of British citizenship certificates to offspring of former servicemen.
