Tanahun, September 12 :
Foods supply to rural areas of Tanahun, Palpa, Syangja and Nawalparasi districts has been disrupted as landslides have blocked Shring and Bhimkali roads in Tanahun since Saturday evening, traders said.
“The blocked roads have triggered a shortage of foodstuff in local shops,” said a former chairman of Rising Ranipokhari VDC, Jaman Singh Gurung.
About 60 tonnes of food used to be transported from Bhimad to different areas and VDCs of the districts daily through different roads, the traders said. The roads link Bhimad with different districts. “Food supply has been disrupted due to the landslides. Five to six truck-loads of foodstuff used to be transported to different districts before the landslides rendered the roads useless,” said Uma Kanta Shrestha, a trader based in Bhimad.
Foodstuff used to be transported from Bhimad to Majhakot, Gajarkot, Baidi, Ramjakot of Tanahun, Dedhgaun and Bulingtar of Nawalparasi, and different parts of Syangja and Palpa districts.
