MPs seek Sitaula’s resignation

Kathmandu, September 25 :

Members of Parliament today sought resignation of Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula blaming him for the deteriorating law and order situation in the country.

Expressing condolence over the murder of MP and chief whip of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Krishna Charan Shrestha, on Saturday, the MPs sought Sitaula’s resignation.

The House today passed a condolence proposal presented by Speaker Subas Nembang. In the meeting, the MPs also expressed grief over the helicopter crash in Taplegunj on Saturday.

Speaking during the special hour, chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Pashupati SJB Rana, said, “This government is unable to perform its basic duty and any government cannot be successful if it cannot maintain law and order.” He advised the government not to assign the same person to look after Home Ministry and the government talks team.

Nepal Sadbhawana Party MP Yagyajit Shah said the minister should bear the moral responsibility for the murder.

MP Ram Baran Yadav and Bharat Mohan Adhikary stressed the need to hold dialogue with the Terai Mukti Morcha to settle its demand. MPs Chitra Bahadur KC and Naba Raj Subedi labelled the brutal murder of MP Shrestha an indication of use of arms for political means. NC-D MP Hom Nath Dahal asked why the Maoists did not condemn the incident.
