KATHMANDU: The Java Contest Nepal 2007 was announced on November 2. It is being organised by WAKHOK University Japan and WAKHOK Nepal.
This contest is being held in Nepal for the first time as a pilot venture for computer programming students and professionals of Nepal. It aims to foster the Nepali IT sector and to generate greater awareness and excitement among students, professionals and the general public about the scope of IT and the potential of Nepali software industries. The contest is sponsored by CASAREAL Inc, Japan, a software company.
The contest is divided into two categories — for students (Rs 500 for application form) and for professionals (Rs 1,000), and will require the participants (individuals or in teams of not more than two persons) to submit web-based applications.
All short-listed software will be displayed at an exhibition and the winners will be announced on February 24, 2007. The last date for the submissions is January 24, 2007.
