CCRC thrash KU; KCC triumph

Kathmandu, December 17:

CCRC and Kantipur City College (KCC) registered wins on the opening day of the Thakur Nath Pant Memorial Inter-college Knockout Cricket Tournament organised by National Campus of Business Studies (NCBS) here today. CCRC defeated Kathmandu University by 125 runs while KCC beat Ambition by 39 runs.

Batting first, CCRC accumulated 176 runs in their allotted 20 overs. National team member Mehboob Alam scored an explosive 54 runs off just 31 balls while Pawan Das contributed 31 and Dipesh Khatri 29 runs for CCRC.

In reply, Kathmandu University were cheaply bowled out for 51 runs. Alam was the pick of the bowler with four wickets for CCRC. Avay Rana also bagged two wickets. Alam was declared man of the match for his alround performance.

In the second match of the day, KCC defended the modest total of 116 to beat Ambition by 39 runs. Karan Chand top scored with 43 runs for KCC. Chasing the target of 117, Ambition were dismissed for 77 runs. T Rajan of KCC won the man of the match award.
