Bara, December 23 :

Locals of Haraiya in Bara district and members of the Sahajnath community forest management committee clashed at Haraiya this afternoon.

During the quarrel, six vehicles were damaged, locals said. The fracas occurred over the issue of who would take away two logs seized by locals from smugglers on December 17.

When police handed over the logs to locals Bishnu Das and Sohan Lal Shah, members of the community forest users dashed to the site to take possession of the logs. After that the clash occurred, police said.

Following the clash, Madhuban Bazaar remained closed from 3 to 5 pm. The site is 16 km east of the district headquarters Kalaiya.
