Kathmandu, December 24:
The All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) today locked out four universities for indefinite period demanding immediate appointment of vice chancellors and other key posts in them.
The team led by Thakur Gaire, president of ANNFSU locked the central campus and Vice Chancellor’s office of Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur in the morning today.
The contact office of Purbanchal University, Pokhara University and Nepal Sanskrit University too were locked out today.
Rupesh Khatiwada, ANNFSU Chief of Educational Department, addressing a corner meet after the lock out of TU central campus said that the government is playing with the future of thousands of students by delaying the appointment of VCs in varsities. “Those who had passed the examination are deprived of getting their certificate. This has caused a heavy loss to those who wanted to pursue higher education,” said Khatiwada. “This is the height of government irresponsibility.” The students announced that they would lock out all the campus chiefs’ office from December 28 for indefinite period.
