Maoists oppose police posts’ re-establishment

Gorkha, January 8:
Maoists have obstructed re-establishment of police posts saying they would let that happen only after the interim constitution is promulgated.
Maoist Gorkha secretary Prakash said his party stood for re-establishment of police posts only on the basis of mutual understanding and after the interim statute comes into effect.
Gorkha Chief District Officer, Kailash Nath Kharel said the police posts would be re-established after an agreement of all political parties.
A report from Tanahun said no police post has been re-established as yet. The police posts in Bhimad, Devghat and Dumre could not be re-established as the police could not find suitable house to rent, Tanahun CDO, Kashinath Marasini, said.
Maoist leader Sangam reiterated his party position that they would not allow re-establishment of police post until the interim constitution came into effect. In Palpa, DSP Bhim Prasad Dhakal said two area police offices and ten police posts have been re-established in the district as of now. In Nuwakot, all police posts have been re-established. In Rasuwa, all six police posts have been re-established and 10 police offices were re-established in Dang in three days. District police office Siraha has re-established 18 of 33 displaced police posts in the district. In Dolakha, four police posts were re-established yesterday. SSP in Lumbini Zonal Police Office, Binod Singh, said 60 police posts have been re-established.
