Kathmandu:
After organising the jamboree at Taudaha, Wildlife Conservation Nepal (WCN) is busy getting ready for its Annual Nature and Wildlife Photography Competition for amateurs. This free for all contest, which is open to amateurs of any age and from any background, is being held with the intention to raise awareness on various environmental issues among the people, and encourage them towards conservation of nature and wildlife.
“Photos of wildlife do not only mean photos of tigers and forests. Wildlife photography also means photos of backyard birds and animals,” says Sanjeevani Yonzon, programme coordinator at WCN. “So, we will accept any kind of photos that has something to do with nature and wildlife.”
An individual can submit a total of three photographs (8 x12 inches). The entry forms are available at WCN office and Photo Concern, or can be downloaded from www.wcn.org.np.
These forms have to be submitted along with the photos at the above two places by February 15.
A panel of prominent photographers will judge the submissions. The 10 best photographs will be featured in greeting cards bearing the photographers’ names. The cards will be released
and winners announced during the inauguration of a five-day exhibition to be organised at the Nepal Art Council either at the end of March or first week of April, according to Yonzon.
The programme also intends to provide a platform for all nature lovers to display their photos, and generate funds to help WCN in carrying out its various conservation activities.
