Burning down all that’s evil

By Shreya Jha, Class VIII, Imperial Academy

In ancient times, there lived a King named Hiranyakashyap. He had a son named Prahlad, who was a great devotee of God Vishnu. But the King wanted his son to forget Vishnu and consider him as God. The King made many attempts on his son’s life, but the son was always saved by the grace of the God.

So one day the King called his sister, Holika, who it was said could never be burnt. She was ordered to hold Prahlad in her lap in the fire. But Holika was burnt instead of Prahlad. This day was marked as the victory of good over evil.
