Regressive elements provoking MJF: Yadav

Lamjung, March 5:

Joint general secretary of the Nepali Congress Dr Rambaran Yadav today accused the regressive forces of instigating indigenous nationalities and the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum in the name of federal governance.

Yadav was speaking at the Lamjung district conference of the NC at Besisahar after

a foundation stone-laying ceremony for the BP memorial building.

The government will deal with demands put forth by indigenous nationalities and Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum only after the constituent assembly polls, he said. The Nepali Congress will endorse the decision of the first meeting of the constituent assembly, he said, adding that unlike the communists, the Nepali Congress would not go for populist slogans.

NC central member Dil Bahadur Gharti appealed to 1,200 active members of the party in the district to extend financial cooperation for the construction of the memorial building.

Parliamentarian Ram Bahadur Gurung said the Maoists, after joining parliamentary politics, should give up extortion and stop flaunting weapons. Former minister Ram Chandra Adhikari, parliamentarian Haribhakta Adhikari, Shankerkant Joshi, Krishna Koirala and Gyanu Shah also expressed their views on the occasion.

Parliamentarian Gurung donated Rs 75,000 for the memorial building, which will be built on one ropani and seven annas of land.
