Millionaire scheme turns one

Himalayan Bank Ltd (HBL) celebrated the first anniversary of its Millionaire Deposit and Small Business Enterprise Loan Schemes here today.
The schemes, one of their kind in the Nepali sector, were launched in May 2006 and received an overwhelming response from the customers, states a press release issued here today by the bank. The total number of customers under the Millionaire Deposit, which carried a prize money of one million rupees with the tax amount of Rs 3,33,334 to be borne by the bank, stood at 10,860 on May 2. The pri-zes are announced every three months.
The bank today announced three additional anniversary special prizes of Rs 1,00,000 to three customers during the fourth draw to be held on May 10. All customers holding a valid Millionaire Deposit Receipt as of May 9 would be eligible for the prizes.
In a bid to give the Nepalis working abroad a chance to participate in the quarterly draws, the bank has tied up with HimalRemit, the bank’s proprietary remittance services with the Millionaire Depost Scheme.
Earlier, HBL introduced the visa debit card which can be used in India and Nepal and some other countries depending on the category of the card. Even the visa card is bac-ked by a special scheme, wherein three lucky winners selected through a lucky draw will earn an all paid package trip along with their spouses to Bangkok and Singapore.
