Biratnagar, May 18:

The Armed Police Force eastern divisional headquarters is establishing the first border security office (BSO) in the region in Saptari district on May 20.

This comes under the government’s plan to set up BSOs in five districts of the region.

The quota for establishment of BSOs has been approved and the plan is now in its final phase, APF DIG at the divisional headquarters, Thakur Mohan Shrestha, said adding that BSOs in all the five districts would be established by May 29.

BSOs will be established at Chandragadhi of Jhapa district, Budhnagar of Morang, Inaruwa of Sunsari, Itahari-Bisanpur of Saptari and at Gaurishankar Rice Mill in Siraha.

The government has already decided to establish BSOs in 16 districts of the Tarai region and there will be 237 security personnel of different ranks led by Superintendents of Police, the APF headquarters said.

The BSOs will guard the border, control crime and trans-border smuggling and take care of border pillars.
