Abducted boy freed
BARA: A boy, abducted from Kalaiya 19 days ago, reached home on Sunday. The kidnappers handed over nine-year-old Navaneet Agarwal, the son of Gopal Agarwal of Kalaiya-5, to relatives of the Agarwal family on Saturday, Bara Superintendent of Police Sarbendra Khanal said. Navaneet was abducted from his residence on May 16. — HNS
JTMM expels 4 cadres
RAUTAHAT: The Rautahat district working committee of the Jwala Singh-led Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) has expelled four of its cadres. Four JTMM-Jwala Singh cadres — Indal Singh, Birodhi Singh, Daresh Singh and Sarajul Singh — were expelled from the group’s general membership with effect from Sunday for acting against the group’s interest and for defaming the group, a statement signed by JTMM-Jwala Singh Rautahat district chairman Sher Singh said. — HNS
Tiger kills girl
BAGLUNG: A six-year-old girl was mauled to death by a man-eating tiger on Saturday evening. The girl, a daughter of Uma Kanta Subedi of Narayansthan village development committee-7 in Baglung district, was playing in front of her house when the tiger pounced on her and mauled her to death. — HNS
NC man’s land seized
MAHOTTARI: The Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) Goit, on Saturday night seized some five bighas of land at Sitapur Bhangaha Purbawari Tole of Mahottari. The land belongs to Nepali Congress Chief Whip Ananda Prasad Dhungana.
The Morcha said it seized the land because Dhungana was engaged in interpreting the Madhesi movement in a wrong way. — RSS
Rural info centre
Dhading: A rural information centre has been established in the Maidi VDC-based Samibhanjyang Higher Secondary School of Dhading. This is the first rural information centre established in Dhading district, which is just a stone’s throw away from Kathmandu. The centre began its operation on Saturday after a Korean organisation, Koika Forum for Information Technology, provided five computers, a fax machine, a photocopier and a printer. — HNS
Teachers’ demands
pokhara: Minister of State for Education and Sports Mohan Singh Rathore said on Sunday that the government would not be able to meet all the demands of teachers. Speaking at an interaction on “Impact of politics on children and its effect” under a week-long programme of Pokhara Jaycees, Rathore said: “The government does not have the capacity to meet all demands of teachers.” —HNS
