Armed cops’ entry banned
Rajbiraj: Border officials of Nepal and India have agreed to ban the entry of Indian policemen with arms to Nepal. The agreement was reached in a meeting held between the officials of both countries on Wednesday. The meeting also decided to mark the borders, to check trafficking in women, drugs and timber and to demolish the houses constructed in the Koshi barrage area. Ananda Raj Pokharel, the CDO of Saptari, led the Nepali delegation. Sanjeev Hans, district magistrate of Supaul district, headed the Indian team. Hans said armed Indian police would not enter Nepal without permission from the Nepali side. — HNS
Customs office shifted
RASUWA: Rasuwagadhi customs office, the only entry point from Kerung of Tibet to Nepal, has been shifted to Syaphrubeshi due to security reason and geographical remoteness, said chief of the customs Dinesh Paneru. — RSS
Headmasters abducted
DHADING: Maoists have taken away over two dozen headmasters of secondary, lower-secondary and primary schools of eight VDCs of Dhading to force them to attend an interaction. Earlier too, the Maoists had taken 25 teachers under their control. — RSS
Amda-refugees spat on flu
Damak: The Primary Health Service Project of Amda Hospital and Bhutan Health Association (BHA), responsible for medicare to Bhutanese refugees in Jhapa, on Wednesday claimed no one has died of the viral influenza and the disease was under control. However, refugees refuted the claim and said at least one dozen people have so far died of the flu. Ramesh Subba of Beldangi camp said at least one dozen people have so far died of the flu. — HNS
Bid to curb girl trafficking
BUTWAL: A meeting of journalists of Nepal and India concluded in Bhairahawa decided to work towards controlling the trafficking in women in the border areas. The meeting decided to write articles against trafficking and generate awareness against trafficking from other places rather than the main custom offices. — RSS
