Lamjung, June 28:

The Mid-Marsyangdi Hydro Electricity Project (MMHEP) closed down for an indefinite period from today after locals of Bhoteodar barred vehicles of the project from plying since last Saturday.

The locals have been demanding that the government construct a bridge on the Bhoteodar-Belghari section of the road.

“Work in the project has halted after MMHEP consultant Fienar JV ordered us to stop work until further notice,” officer of the contract company DDCJV Karna Jung Thapa said.

“After the movement of vehicles was halted, cement, sand, diesel, petrol, rods and food stuff could not be brought,” he added.
