Valuables, cash worth lakhs looted

Kathmandu, July 21:
Cash and valuables worth Rs 1.8 million were looted from the house of Pemba Sherpa at Chuchchepati early this morning, police said.
DSP Mahesh Bikram Shah at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Bouddha said an armed group took away cash Rs 11,25,000, 60 tolas of gold and 100 tolas of silver from tenants — Dambu Lama and Punam Chandra Byas. Byas was slightly injured when he took on the robbers.
The police said a group armed with khukuris and iron rods entered Pemba’s house around 2 am.
DSP Shah said they have identified the robbers. “They are all professionals and have been jailed several times before,” he said.
