Karate tournament

KATHMANDU: Sujan Gurung of Goldhunga Dojo and Pravin Manandhar of Narharipur Dojo advanced to the final of the Kathmandu District Open Karate Tournament here on Wednesday. Sujan beat Roshan Karki while Pravin defeated Karma Sherpa in the 25kg bout. Boys will vie for the championships in six weight categories (25kg, 30kg, 50kg, 55kg and Open) while girls will fight in five weight categories (25kg, 35kg, 45kg, Open and Individual Kata). In all, 175 male and 95 female is taking part in the tournament organised by Nepal International Martial Arts Dojo. — HNS

Sports gear given

KATHMANDU: The National Sports Council (NSC) on Wednesday handed over sports gears to Chitwan District Sports Development Committee (CDSDC). The NSC member Raju Shrestha handed over football, volleyball, boxing and taekwondo gears to CDSDC president Suraj Tiwari. Tiwari in turn handed over the gears to coaches of the related disciplines, said the NSC on Wednesday. — HNS

Bodybuilding c’ship

KATHMANDU: Nepal Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (NBFA) is organising the 11th National Bodybuilding Championship here at the Dasharath Stadium covered hall on August 18. The pre-judging round of the six categories — 55kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 75kg and above 75kg — will be held a day prior to the final, said the organisers on Wednesday. Only six bodybuilders in each category will make into the final round. Mr Nepal will be declared after a separate competition between the winners of each of the six categories. In total, 120 bodybuilders from 22 districts are competing for Mr Nepal title. — HNS
