Kathmandu:
The Communist Party of Nepal (United) on Wednesday demanded that the Parliament declare the country a republic before the constituent assembly polls.
At a press conference organised by the CPN (U) Number 3 regional committee, the party said that instead of declaring the country a republic, attempts were made to give continuity to monarchy by proroguing the current House session and making the Prime Minister the centre of power.
