Butwal flood sweeps away 104 houses

Rupandehi, September 3:

Floodwaters from the Tinau river this morning swept away over 100 houses built on the banks of the river at Khayardhari, Majhuwa, Pragatinagar and Devinagar in Butwal Municipality.

According to the Butwal area police office, the swollen river burst banks and swept away around 104 houses.

Meanwhile, a report from Kaski district said 18 houses collapsed last night at Hemja VDC of the district due to incessant rainfall.

The displaced house-owners are taking shelter in their neighbours’ houses. According to the victims, the houses were located in wards 1, 2 and 3.
