Kathmandu, April 9:

The Bir Ganesh Man Singh Bal Prativa Puruskar Kosh (BGMSBPP) today gave “Child of the Year-2063” award to three children for their talents in the field of art and literature.

Raj Acharya received the award for his talent in the field of art (acting), Udesh Pandey for literature and Shree Aans Agrawal for drawing and dance. Acharya was given a cash prize of Rs 25,000 while Pandey and Agrawal got Rs 12,500 each at a function here today.

Receiving the prize, they said that the award would inspire all the children to work in the field of art and literature.

Speaking at the programme, cultural expert Satya Mohan Joshi said that the emerging talents could contribute a lot for the development of the country in future. He also stressed on the need to search talents from all over the country rather than focusing only in the Kathmandu Valley.

Highlighting the contribution of Ganesh Man Singh, MP Prakash Man Singh said: “Ganesh Man Singh always focused on democracy because without democracy nothing can flourish. Without political stability and democracy, talents cannot be preserved.”

Prachanda Raj Pradhan, general secretary of the BGMSBPP, said: “The award was established to inspire the children to apply their talents for the prosperity of the nation.” “The other children will take this award as a source of inspiration to move ahead in their life,” he said.

The award was established in 2055 BS for honouring talented children in five different fields — creativity (art, literature, music, songs) sports, science, courageous works and miscellaneous.
