Shaila Rana set a national record and clinched four gold medals today to add to her three gold and a bronze medal she won on the opening day of the 14th National Swimming Championship.
Shaila won the 200m Backstroke in three minutes 3.34 seconds, breaking her own mark of three minutes 8.04. Shaila also won Rs 5,000 for the feat. Sudha Shrestha and Kristina Karki finished second and third.
Shaila won her second gold of the day when she beat Kristina and Shriya Dhital in the 200m Individual Medley. She finished the distance in 3:4.37. Shaila also won the 100m Butterfly gold in one minute 23.81 seconds, ahead of Nayana Shakya and Karishma Karki. Shaila clinched the 200m Freestyle gold in two minutes 47.90 seconds beating Karishma and Sudha Shrestha.
Bibidha Rimal won the 100m Breaststroke gold in 1:29.31 ahead of Sudha and Kristina.
In the men’s section, Sailesh Rana (200m Individual Medley in 2:38.08 and 100m Breaststroke in 1:19.67), Puspa Raj Shahi (200m Backstroke in 2:53.84), Chandra Singh Mahato (100m Butterfly in 1:8.27) and Khim Bahadur KC (200m Freestyle in 2:28.66).
