Valley folk to learn disaster preparedness skills

Kathmandu, November 30:
With an aim to equip people of Kathmandu with the necessary skills to tackle disasters, the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS)-Kathmandu is launching a disaster preparedness programme in the Valley within 15 days.
The programme comprises conducting awareness activities; training on earthquake, flood, landslide and fire; first aid knowledge; effective measures to respond during disasters; search and rescue operations and socio-psychological trainings.
We will launch the programme in Wards 30 and 16 of KMC and Kirtipur Municipality, said Sangha Ratna Shakya, NRCS’s secretary.
The Belgian Red Cross will fund the programme.
