RPP against statute amendment

Kathmandu, December 25:

Rastriya Prajatantra Party has urged the government to immediately announce date for the Constituent Assembly election and withdraw the constitution amendment bill from parliament.

The government should initiate dialogue with the disgruntled factions, including the Madhesis, Janajatis, and the Dalits and table a fresh amendment in the parliament to ensure free and fair election, RPP chairman Pashupati Rana said at the end of his party’s central committee meeting today.

Rana, critical of the 23-point pact reached among the seven parties on Sunday, said uncertainties still exist over the government’s commitment to hold the polls.
