Kathmandu, January 15:
A delegation of district leaders of the seven parties from Parbat today asked the government to lay emphasis on development of the district.
Speaking at a press conference after visiting the office of the Prime Minister and other ministries, Nawaraj Gurung, district chairman of the Nepali Congress, said the Kaligandaki Corridor should link Mirmi of Syangja to Beni and Jomsom through Parbat. “The proposed Kaligandaki Highway, which is supposed to link Tarai, should follow the usual track and there should not be any change,' he said.
He added that though the government had finalised the track for the proposed highway, some people were trying to divert it. The six-member delegation urged the government to release Rs 3.3 million as announced in its budget and demanded that Parbat be spared from load shedding.
Gunakar Basyal, district secretary of the CPN-Maoist, said due to the lack of coordination among ministries, the district has not witnessed development work as expected.
