Delegation meets govt officials

Kathmandu, February 21:

A delegation from Chitwan today met officials of Department of Roads and Nepal Electricity Authority to have road and electricity infrastructures developed in a settlement located in the Chitwan National Park.

“We met officials of the department and the authorities and asked them to build development infrastructures there,” said Krishna Prasad Bhurtel, the chairman of Chitwan National Park’s Buffer Zone Management Committee.

He said the government has agreed to stretch 9.5 km of underground cable so that electricity reaches the settlement of Madi, where around 60,000 people are living being sourrounded by the park’s protected zone. The officials also assured that the 9.5km road will also be broadened and will be upgraded, he added.
