Security tightened
Banke: The Nepali and the Indian security forces have tightened security on their sides of the border keeping in view the upcoming April 10 constituent assembly election. While the Jamunah Police Post has intensified security check along the border, the Rupaidiha Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) in the Indian side has also increased the frequency and level of patrolling along the border in the day and in the night as well. An RSS report from Bhadrapur said a meeting of administrative officials of Mechi zone and Darjeeling was held in Siliguri on Sunday to extend cooperation to control crimes. — HNS / RSS
Lightning kills one
DAMAK: One person died while another was injured when lightning struck them at Shanishre of Jhapa district on Monday morning. While Manoj Subba (16), a student of Shahid Dharma Bhakta Higher Secondary School, died in the incident, Gopal Subba of the same place was injured. Police said they were unaware about the incident — HNS
MJF talks of poll pact
BIRATNAGAR: MJF coordinator Upendra Yadav said here on Monday that Madhesi parties will team up to ensure their win in the CA polls. Yadav was speaking to journalists in Biratnagar. A decision on a coalition will be made by Tuesday, he said. — HNS
Sushil warns of war
BANKE: Acting president of the Nepali Congress (NC) Sushil Koirala said here on Monday that a civil war grip the nation if the CA polls are not held on April 10. Koirala was addressing a press meet organised by the Banke chapter of the NC in Nepalgunj. He accused the Maoists of trying to disrupt the polls. — HNS

ITAHARI: US ambassador Nancy J Powell on Monday met chief district officer of Sunsari Prem Narayan Sharma, Sunsari police chief Yadav Raj Khanal, district election officer Prem Prasad Luintel, local development officer Guru Prasad Subedi in Inaruwa, the district headquarters of Sunsari, and acquired information on preparations being made in Sunsari
