Political crisis sad, says VDC central president

Central president of the Village Development Committee (VDC) National Federation Mahin Limbu inaugurated the third Jhapa district council meeting of the federation at Kalbalgudi, Jhapa on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Limbu said it was sad that internal political conflict has been created at a time of national crisis. Limbu called for election of the local bodies or extension of their term otherwise. Jhapa District Development Committee (DDC) chairman Arjun Rai stressed on the need for cooperation between local bodies.
VDC federation central member Omnarayan Rajbanshi complained that 50 per cent of the grant provided to VDCs has been curtailed. The meeting was presided over by VDC National Federation Jhapa district president Bhim Prasad Adhikari. A report presented by Adhikari stated that ten VDCs in Jhapa were set on fire and vandalised, two telephone booths were destroyed and Khajurgachhi VDC chairman Shyam Sundar Yadav was killed by the Maoists.
Likewise, the report also stated that damage was caused to electricity offices, post offices, sub -health posts, ilka post offices, police posts, small farmers development offices, telephone towers, telecommunication office and bridges by the terrorists.
The report also called on the top leaders of all the political parties and His Majesty Government for all out efforts for peaceful and lasting solution by stopping all activities detrimental to the people.
