Pokhara, July 11:
Cadres of the Nepal Tarun Dal and Nepali Congress today greeted Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula with black flags in Pokhara.
They also shouted slogans against Sitaula.
Sitaula had arrived here to address a meeting of NC cadres.
NC Kaski district chairman Yagya Bahadur Thapa seized the flags from the protesters. Addressing the cadres, Sitaula said the Maoists raised the slogan of Constituent Assembly raised by the NC in 2006 BS and emerged as the single largest party in the CA.
The NC and the CPN-UML lost the election because they stood for the constitutional monarchy, he said.
“The Maoists garnered more votes because they stood for the declaration of a republic since the beginning of the armed insurgency. They won also because former king Gyanendra lost his popularity.”
