Yeti plane crashlands

BHAIRAHAWA: A Yeti Airlines plane, NAHW-9, bound for Bhairahawa from Kathmandu crashlanded at Gautam Buddha Airport in Bhairahawa on Friday morning, after the left rear wheel of the plane got damaged during the course of landing. All people — 24 passengers and three crew — on board the plane were safe, airport police said. Other flights to and from the airport were disrupted after the incident. A technical team had been summoned from Kathmandu to probe the incident, an airport source said. — HNS

One injured in blast

BARA: A person was injured when a gang detonated a socket bomb in Parsauni bazaar in Bara district on Thursday night. The injured has been identified as Shankar Mahara and he has been taken to Birgunj for treatment, police said. The gang also abducted 18-year-old Sarbesh Gupta from his house. — HNS

Vaccine shortage

ACHHAM: Over six hundred children in Achham district have been deprived of BCG, the anti-tuberculosis vaccine, this month, the Achham District Public Health Office said. “We have not been able to bring the vaccine due to bandh programmes,” acting chief at the public health office Jhapatraj Dhungana said. The acting chief of DPHO added that the supply of other vaccines had also been disrupted due to the bandh programmes. — HNS

Landslide halts traffic

SANKHUWASABHA: Landslide has brought traffic on the Leguwa-Khandbari road to a halt since Thursday night. It has swept away 10 metres of the road at Chanuwa in Dhankuta. According to a local, Ganesh Bhandari, supply of essentials to Khandbari and Bhojpur via Leguwa has been disrupted and dozens of vehicles have been stranded on the road. — HNS

Man kills wife

BAGLUNG: A person hacked his wife to death in Parvat district on Friday. Shiv Sapkota of Mudukuwa VDC-8 killed his wife Apsara, 45, police said. Sapkota was arrested from Kusma bazaar, police said, adding that an investigation into the incident was underway. Apsara’s body has been taken to Parvat District Hospital for post-mortem. — HNS

Inoperable highway

SIRAHA: A culvert on the Siraha-Choharwa section along the East-West highway was washed away by flood on Wednesday. Access of Siraha district headquarters to the East-West Highway has been cut off after the flooding. — HNS
