Kathmandu, September 27:

Demanding an end to the tradition of sacrificing animals in the name of gods, people from different walks of life took out a rally from Bhadrakali on Saturday.

Over 1,000 people took part in the rally, calling all concerned to show sympathy to animals and put an end to the tradition. The rallyists also called public not to sacrifice animals during Dashain.

The rally, which was staged at the call of Animal Sacrifice Awareness Campaign, converged in Maitighar.

“Sacrifice of animal is a sin from humanitarian and scientific perspectives. The government should take initiatives to put an end to animal sacrifice,” said campaign coordinator Dr Govinda Tondon.
