KATHMANDU: When it comes to understanding different cultures of other countries’,
music and dance help break the ice. Celebrating life with music and merry making with dance moves is most probably the easiest way to come together. On the occasion of the Spanish National Day, which falls on October 12, the Spanish Embassy Delhi and the Consul of Spain to Nepal Ambica Shrestha presented a Spanish Flamenco Dance performance at the Nepal Academy on October 15.
Astha Laxmi Shakya, Minister of Commerce and Industries, was the chief guest at the event which was graced by various corporate honchos, socialites, diplomats and academicians.
It was an evening of cultural exchange with live music and exotic dance movements. The strumming of guitars and percussion made a lasting effect on the audience, who could not stop themselves from tapping their feet in rhythm with the beats. Girls, looking sensual, danced with graceful movements creating music through the tapping of their shoes heels, fans and clapping.
Though most of the audience present could not understand the songs, the enjoyed the liveliness that the melodies lent the performance. The lighting was also done in very a colourful manner adding vibrancy to the performance.
The evening indeed was a celebration of Spanish culture which was enjoyed by all.
