Kathmandu, October 22:
Vestergaard Frandsen, the Swiss company known for technologically innovative products for preventing transmission of vector borne and waterborne diseases, launched PermaNet®, a long-lasting insecticide treated (LLIN) mosquito nets and curtains, and LifeStraw® water purifiers, here today.
PermaNet® helps prevent malaria — a growing public health hazard — and repels mosquitoes even after 20 washes. It stays effective for up to four years.
PermaNet® also has a coating of dust repellant to keep it clean longer. It is safe to use for the whole family, including infants and pregnant women. By reducing the threat of mosquitoes, PermaNet® becomes an effective tool in the combat against malaria and other vector borne diseases.
PermaNet® bed-net has a complimentary product called PermaNet® curtains. Made of the same high-quality material as the bed-nets, these curtains for doors and windows prevent the entry of mosquitoes.
Also introduced Nepal today were high-quality LifeStraw® water purifying devices. There are
two complimentary point-of-use versions of LifeStraw® - one for the household and the other for individual use.
LifeStraw® Personal has been designed for individual use and will purify up to 700 litres of water. It will remove 99.7 per cent of the waterborne viruses and 99.9999 per cent of waterborne bacteria, claimed the company.
Complimentary LifeStraw® Family is designed to provide clean and safe drinking water for a typical family for up to three years. It will purify at least 18,000 litres of water and remove 99.9 per cent of waterborne parasites, 99.99 per cent of waterborne viruses and 99.9999 per cent of waterborne bacteria. Both ranges are marketed by Kalika Enterprises Pvt Ltd.
