Students injured in police action

Kathmandu, December 18:

At least seven students were injured when the police charged them with lathis during a protest staged by Joint Dalit Students’ Struggle Committee in New Baneshwor today.

According to a Dalit actvist, Devendra Sunar, the police rained lathis on the agitating students. Shambhu Biswokarma, Ananda Biswokarma, Sahek Biswokarma, Juna Biswokarma and committee convenor Ram Nepali were among those seriously injured. They are undergoing treatment in Kathmandu Model Hospital. General secretary of the All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union (Revolutionary) Himal Sharma condemned the action against peaceful agitation.
