Kathmandu, January 14:

President Dr Ram Baran Yadav today gave away this year’s Gamki Dhuswan-Basundhara Award to Matsyendra Pradhan and Dhuswa Sayami Creative Award to artiste Hari Prasad Baidhya.

During a prize distribution ceremony organised by Gamki Dhuswan-Basundhara Academy at the President’s official residence in Shital Niwas, Dr Yadav honoured the two with the awards. The prizes carry purses of Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000, respectively, and appreciation letters.

During the function, Prez Dr Yadav said art and literature will play a supportive role in the development of a democratic culture and strengthening national unity.

On the occasion, the President also released a book Dui Bylot: Chautharfi Akraman authored by Dr Arun Sayami.

On the occasion, a message from the Prime Minister congratulating the awardees was read out.
