KATHMANDU: Excited children had gathered at the temple in Basantapur armed with white sheets of paper and pencils and colours. They were all getting ready to take part in the art competition titled ‘Our Culture’ organised by Ecstary, Enrich Your Desire Thru Art on the occasion of Shree Panchami on January 31. The chief guest for the event was Raju Manandhar, Campus Chief, Lalit Kala Campus.
A total of around 200 children from 45 different schools and art institutes were present. Children from Classes V-IX took part in the competition.
They got busy creating various aspects of our culture from beautiful temples, jatras, wedding ceremonies and gods and goddesses. Each child presented his/her own version of what culture means to him/her. While some chose to use water colour, others used coloured pencils, crayons and some of them made pencil sketches.
Finally, it was time the judges Madan Chitrakar, Govinda Lal Dongol and Radhe Shyam Mulmi to decide the winners. The winners were decided from two groups, Group A had children of Classes V-VI, Group B from Classes VII-IX. The winners were given gold, silver and bronze medals and art materials. An exhibition of the paintings will be held at Lalit Kala Campus on February 7.
