Retired teachers’ pension:

Biratnagar: The district education office (DEO), Morang, will pay the pension amount to retired teachers by mid-March, section officer Tula Ram Bhandari said. An official has already been dispatched to Kathmandu in this regard, he added. Four mon-ths ago, the government had decided the retired teachers would be paid their pension through banks. Dependents of these teachers had a tough time due to the delay in payment. Earlier, the teachers used to receive pension from the DEO. — HNS

Three leaders released:

RAJBIRAJ: Vice president of the Appellate Bar Unit, Saptari, Nepali Congress Town Committee president Kapleshwor Prasad Shah and Nepali Congress Area No 3 president Ram Dutta Shah, who were under house arrest from February 2 were released on Thursday in presence of journalists. — HNS

Civilian shot dead:

RAUTAHAT: Suspected Maoists gunned down a civilian and injured another in Rau-tahat on Thursday. Jayprakash Yadav of Khe-shraiya VDC was shot dead, while Hridya Narayan Shah of Pothiyahiwas hurt when another group allegedly attacked him. — HNS
