Fire-hit await relief
DAMAK: The victims of fire in a Bhutanese refugees camp in Beldangi of Damak are leading a difficult life due to the lack of relief. Over 1000 fire victims are facing difficulties, said Naradmani Sanyasi, secretary of the camp. The initial relief provided by the donors was not sufficient, he added. Meanwhile, UNHCR said relief operation has been intensified. Property worth Rs 30 million was damaged after fire engulfed 214 huts last Wednesday. — HNS
Seized land returned
TANAHUN: The Unified CPN-Maoist has returned 160 ropanis of land seized during the insurgency to their rightful owners in Tanahun. The Maoists returned 141 ropanis of land belonging to Shriram Temple of Devghat Area Development Committee, 17 ropanis to Keshari Upadhyay Sigdel at Raipur-1 and two ropanis to Keshavraj Upadhyay. The Maoists also vacated a building belonging to Bhimad VDC. The building was handed to the VDC by the Asian Development Bank. Maoist-affiliated Magarat Mukti Morcha had been using it. — HNS
Police-JTMM clash
NEPALGUNJ: A police team traded fire with cadres of Jwala Singh-led Jantanantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) at Bethani in Banke on Monday. The police team opened fire after the JTMM cadres started firing at them. The police detained Madhumohan Sarkar of India from the incident site. According to SP Mingmar Lama, a gun, a pistol and bullets were recovered from the site. — HNS
